International education provides exciting opportunities for today’s students.
At Maniototo Area School, we take very seriously the responsibility of helping your child to achieve the goals he or she has set. Our school has a special character in that we are only 90 minutes from Dunedin airport and 2 hours from Queenstown, however the nearest supermarket, (excepting Four Square) is 85 kilometres away and the cinema two hours. Recreational opportunities for outdoor activities are immense and we have world renowned curling facilities here for those who enjoy ice sports. We have the ability to take skiing, ice sports, tramping, kayaking and mountain biking through our Outdoor Activity programme in a beautiful but remote area.
Our class sizes are small, for example the 2008 projection is shown in the table. This allows your child to receive personalised English medium full immersion education. Your child would need to be prepared to live in a remote but friendly community and enjoy taking part in Education Outside The Classroom. The accommodation available would be in a homestay and a preference would need to be given over whether a place in the town (population 800) or a farm would be desired. Please be aware that living on a farm would involve very different experiences to those found in town. Fees, application forms, refund conditions, insurance requirements and other information can be downloaded from the website by clicking here, or are attached to the prospectus in the information pack. For information on how to apply click here.
